OUR HONEY BEES

THE QUEENS & THEIR COLONIES

The Italian Honey bees are best known for their docility, so that is why the Italians are the type that we prefer to keep. Other honey bees we like, include: the Russians, they are prolific honey producers, can just be a tad bit testy; and the Carniolans, they tend to be a good balance of the other two, with great hardiness for Colorado winters. We love working with our honey bees, they are truly amazing creatures to observe, to learn from and to care for. Our honey bees are not isolated to particular weeds, trees or wildflowers, they Wild Harvest all that naturally blooms in the fields; freely roaming and working, pollinating and collecting what they love and know best to do. Once our honey bees are well established, their food supply is their own honey. The Queen bee does not need, nor want us, meddling in her hive! Set them up, and leave her be!

A: Yes! It's true! TWELVE honey bees will collectively make ONE teaspoon of honey in their lifetimes! (There are about 48 teaspoons in ONE half pint of honey.)

HONEY BEES WILL VISIT BETWEEN 50-100 FLOWERS DURING ONE NECTAR COLLECTION TRIP! Real, Raw, Honey is an antioxidant and mineral rich nourishment, yet there is no promise of a honey harvest; honey is truly a precious gift from God.

MAURICE MAETERLINCK, 'THE LIFE OF THE BEE', ONCE SAID..

"If the bee disappeared off the face of the earth, man would only have four years left to live."

NOW LET ALL THAT SINK IN, NEXT TIME YOU QUESTION THE IMPORTANCE OF THE HONEY BEE AND THE VALUE OF HER HONEY

You must purchase through our shop, or contact us to make an appointment to purchase at the ranch. We ONLY ship honey if we have plastic containers available. Glass is heavy and past shipping experiences have proven shipping services to be unreliable at delivering intact.
